Dr. Hunt started Sitka Animal Hospital in 1995 as a house call veterinary practice.  He helped construct the animal shelter where his practice would soon be located.  In 1996, he moved into the newly constructed boarding facility to share space with the shelter. The practice was an instant success!

Dr. Hunt knew he wanted to be a veterinarian at 8 years of age, started working as a veterinary assistant when he was 15 and now specializes in soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. Dr. Hunt practices the highest quality of veterinary medicine and surgery available. He especially enjoys the challenges of orthopedic and complex soft tissue surgeries.

He enjoys fly fishing (a part-time fly fishing guide for Fishermens Inn) and spending time in the mountains picking berries and fishing with his family.

The Governor of Alaska appointed Dr. Hunt to the Alaska State Board of Veterinary Examiners for 8 years
